A catering job involves preparing, delivering, and serving food and beverages for events, and responsibilities range from menu planning and client meetings to event setup, on-site service, and cleanup. Key duties include ensuring food safety, managing inventory, coordinating staff, and providing excellent customer service. Entry-level roles often focus on food prep and serving, while senior roles may manage client relations, staff, and budget.

Core responsibilities :

Logistics and management:

Transport food, serving pieces, and decorative items to the venue. Manage inventory and place orders for supplies.

Sanitation and safety:

Maintain high standards of cleanliness in both the kitchen and serving areas, and ensure all food is handled and stored safely.

Staff coordination:

Train and supervise staff, schedule shifts, and work with other team members to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for guests.

Customer service:

Handle guest inquiries, address complaints, and ensure the overall dining experience is positive.

Post-event duties:

Clean up after the event, including washing dishes and cleaning the service and kitchen areas.
Key skills and qualifications

Food safety and handling:

Certification in food safety is often required.

Culinary skills:

Experience in preparing and presenting food is essential.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff.

Organizational skills:

Ability to manage multiple tasks, plan ahead, and maintain order.

Leadership:

Required for senior roles to manage and motivate staff.

Physical stamina:

The ability to work long hours and be on your feet.
