Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret physician orders and prescriptions for accuracy.
Dispense prescribed medications to patients and advise them on proper usage, dosage, and potential side effects.
Ensure the safe storage and handling of pharmaceuticals.
Monitor patient medication therapies for interactions, allergies, or contraindications.
Provide counseling and education to patients regarding medications, health conditions, and lifestyle choices.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
Maintain accurate records of all medications dispensed and patient interactions.
Stay updated on new medications, treatments, and pharmaceutical regulations.
Manage inventory of medications and supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and expiry control.
Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and local pharmacy laws.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (BPharm, PharmD).
Valid pharmacist license in the relevant jurisdiction.
Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences and medical terminology.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team and provide patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy setting.
Familiarity with pharmacy management software (e.g., Rx30, PioneerRX).
Work Environment:
Community pharmacy, hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility.
May require standing for long periods and occasional weekend or evening shifts.
