Job Description

A garment merchandiser's responsibilities include:

Product development

: Collaborate with designers to create apparel products that meet design concepts, while considering factors like fabric selection, construction techniques, and cost

Sourcing

: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and manufacturers

Sampling

: Create product prototypes before starting bulk production

Vendor relations

: Maintain good relationships with vendors, suppliers, and distributors, and coordinate with them to establish profitable deals

Quality assurance

: Ensure the quality of products and collections, from the early stages of design

Inspection

: Inspect products for quality and compliance with industry standards

Planning

: Plan for the entire production process and financial process

Shipping

: Ensure all shipping documents are prepared, and arrange for shipping

Communication

: Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong listening, presentation, and decision making skills
Other responsibilities of a garment merchandiser include:

Calculating prices Preparing sales figures Giving policy guidelines to buyers Monitoring stock management Preparing purchase orders Negotiating with buyers, factories, and others about cost price Approving samples Scheduling and tracking factory production Monitoring all production processes
