Job Summary:
The Faculty member in Medical Laboratory Sciences is responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical instruction, guiding students in laboratory techniques, supporting academic administration, and contributing to curriculum development, research, and accreditation activities. The role requires strong subject expertise, clinical laboratory knowledge, and commitment to academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic & Teaching Responsibilities:
Deliver
theoretical and practical lectures
in Medical Laboratory Sciences as per the prescribed curriculum.
Demonstrate and supervise
laboratory procedures
, experiments, and diagnostic techniques.
Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, practical manuals, and presentations.
Ensure
proper usage, maintenance, and safety
of laboratory equipment and instruments.
Evaluate students through internal assessments, practical exams, viva, and end-term examinations.
Maintain academic records including attendance, marks, and student progress reports.
Mentor and guide students for academic and career development.
Laboratory & Clinical Responsibilities:
Supervise clinical laboratory training and internships.
Ensure adherence to
biosafety, quality control, and infection control protocols
.
Assist in calibration, validation, and documentation of laboratory equipment.
Coordinate with hospitals or diagnostic centers for clinical exposure (if applicable).
Academic Administration & Development:
Participate in curriculum design, syllabus revision, and academic audits.
Contribute to NAAC/NABL/NMC or other regulatory compliance activities.
Attend departmental meetings, academic reviews, and faculty development programs.
Support admissions, examinations, inspections, and accreditation processes.
Research & Professional Development:
Engage in research, publications, and academic projects as per institutional norms.
Guide undergraduate/postgraduate students in projects and dissertations (as applicable).
Participate in conferences, workshops, seminars, and training programs.
Stay updated with advancements in diagnostic technologies and laboratory practices.
Strong subject knowledge in Medical Laboratory Sciences
Practical expertise in clinical diagnostic laboratories
Effective teaching, communication, and mentoring skills
Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulatory guidelines
Ability to manage laboratory sessions and academic responsibilities
Research orientation and academic writing skills
Basic computer and LMS proficiency
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (BMLS/BMLT)
- Mandatory
Master's Degree (MMLS/MMLT)
- Preferred / Mandatory for higher designations
Ph.D.
- Required for Associate Professor/Professor as per regulatory norms
(Qualifications as per UGC / University / Allied Health Council norms)*
Experience:
Assistant Professor: 0-3 years (Freshers with required qualification may apply)
Associate Professor: Minimum 5 years of teaching/research experience
Professor: Minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience
