Job Description

A Hotel Management faculty member is responsible for teaching, mentoring, and contributing to the development of students in the hospitality field. This includes delivering lectures, creating curriculum materials, assessing student performance, and potentially conducting research. They also play a vital role in connecting with the industry, ensuring the curriculum remains relevant and up-to-date. Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum Development:

Delivering lectures and practical sessions on various hospitality topics (e.g., hotel operations, food and beverage management, front office operations, housekeeping, sales & marketing, etc.). Developing lesson plans, course materials, and assessments to ensure effective learning. Staying current with industry trends and incorporating them into the curriculum. Participating in curriculum development and program planning.

Student Mentorship and Support:

Advising and mentoring students on academic and career paths. Providing guidance and support throughout their academic journey.

Research and Professional Development:

Conducting research related to the hospitality industry. Publishing research findings in academic journals. Participating in professional development activities to stay current in the field.

Industry Collaboration:

Collaborating with industry professionals to enhance academic programs and ensure curriculum relevance. Potentially participating in internships, placements, and other industry-related activities for students.

Academic Administration:

Participating in departmental and university-wide committees. Contributing to the overall development of the institution. Assisting with student evaluation and academic administration tasks.

Compliance and Institutional Responsibilities:

Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations. Contributing to the overall institutional goals and objectives.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of the hospitality industry and its various operations. Ability to design and deliver engaging and effective learning experiences. Proven ability to mentor and guide students. Research and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. A Master's or Doctoral degree in Hotel Management or a related field is often required.
