The School of Continuing Education and University Resource Centre (SCE-URC) is responsible for in-service programmes in the areas of education, human and social development, and organizational and professional skills.


The SCE-URC for Development aims to significantly enhance the capacity of the development ecosystem, which is comprised of elected representatives, government functionaries, and civil society at large. Its primary role is to build perspectives, competencies and practical skills, which are relevant to different sets of stakeholders across all levels. Programmes will be offered across all thematic areas of human and social development.

Responsibilities:



Design Stage

: Design, develop, and deliver high-quality training programmes based on stakeholder needs. Collaborate with experts and teams to co-create effective learning experiences. Customize, curate, and enhance learning materials to align with objectives. Develop curriculum outlines and session plans, with the aim of building perspectives as well as practice competencies.

Education and Training Stage

: Orient visiting faculty and organisational leaders on the purpose of the course. Lead capacity-building for participants (lawyers, paralegals, faculty/master trainers). Foster a community of practice, as required.

Assessment and Monitoring

: Monitor content effectiveness and address gaps for continuous improvement. Ensure timely availability and submission of participant data and training reports. Contribute to assessment tool and assessment process for participant learning and skills.

Action Research and Field Engagement

: Facilitate or lead action research and field-based learning initiatives in collaboration with farmers, civil society organizations (CSOs), and local institutions to co-generate practice-based knowledge.

Build New Courses

: Be part of conversations and initiate processes to assess capacity needs of different stakeholders. Over time, build a portfolio of offerings that respond to the emerging needs of stakeholders for the SCE-URC-Dev.

Others

: Contribute to other programmes in the University, and particularly in SCE-URC, related to wider capacity development needs of stakeholders.


Requirements




Master's or an advanced degree in Agronomy, Agroecology, Soil Science, Plant Science, or related agricultural sciences. 6 - 8 years of experience in action research and/or field implementation of sustainable / organic farming systems, working with farmers, rural communities, and/or grassroots Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Demonstrated expertise in areas such as: + Sustainable agriculture / organic farming
+ Integrated soil fertility management and water-efficient cropping systems
+ Participatory plant breeding, seed systems, or indigenous crop research
+ Pest and disease management using ecological approaches
Ability to design and develop curriculum / material in English and Hindi, and conduct short courses in English and Hindi, for all levels of functionaries of Government and CSOs. Ability to reflect and think critically. Good oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi. Willingness to travel extensively and work collaboratively and in teams. Ability to prepare and contribute to academic and practice-based literature. Good data analysis, facilitation, and mentoring skills. Knowledge of Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) management. Understanding of value chain development in the context of sustainable agriculture. Strong network within CSOs across India. Experience of working with Government sectors.
