Job Summary:
The
Factory Manager (for Garments Unit)
is responsible for managing the entire product lifecycle within a garments manufacturing unit. This role involves overseeing product development, production planning, quality assurance, and cost management to ensure operational efficiency, product profitability, and customer satisfaction. A key responsibility is managing product costing to optimize pricing strategies while maintaining competitive manufacturing costs.
Key Responsibilities:1. Product Development & Planning:
Oversee the development of garments from design to bulk production.
Collaborate with design, merchandising, and production teams to align products with customer needs and market trends.
Evaluate product feasibility, ensuring efficient production processes and raw material sourcing.
Develop seasonal product roadmaps with clear timelines and production goals.
2. Product Costing Management:
Develop and manage
costing strategies
to optimize material, labor, and overhead expenses.
Conduct
cost breakdown analysis
of fabrics, trims, accessories, and production operations.
Identify opportunities for
cost reduction
without compromising product quality.
Work with procurement and supply chain teams to negotiate
competitive pricing
for raw materials.
Ensure product pricing aligns with profitability targets while remaining competitive in the market.
Implement
costing software and analytical tools
to monitor expenses and enhance financial planning.
3. Production & Operations Management:
Develop and monitor production schedules to ensure timely delivery.
Optimize production efficiency through
lean manufacturing
and
process improvement techniques
.
Coordinate with
factory managers
and
supervisors
to resolve production bottlenecks.
Ensure raw materials are available in time to avoid production delays.
Work with
external vendors and suppliers
for outsourcing requirements when necessary.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Establish
strict quality control measures
across all production stages.
Ensure compliance with
buyer specifications, industry regulations, and sustainability standards
.
Conduct
regular audits and inspections
to maintain product integrity and consistency.
Address
quality-related issues
proactively to reduce rework and wastage.
5. Financial & Budget Management:
Prepare and manage
budgets
for product development, manufacturing, and supply chain.
Monitor
profit margins
and
cost variances
to achieve financial targets.
Work with finance teams to analyze
cost-per-unit, profit margins, and overall business performance
.
Implement
cost-control initiatives
to enhance profitability.
Lead and mentor teams across
production, merchandising, sourcing, and quality control
.
Facilitate collaboration between departments to enhance efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
8-15 years in
garment manufacturing
Strong expertise in
product costing, pricing strategies, and production efficiency
.
Knowledge of
garment production processes, raw material sourcing, and supply chain management
.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
