About the Role



We are looking for an experienced Factory Manager to oversee purchase, production planning, inventory control, and overall factory operations. This role is critical in ensuring smooth coordination across procurement, planning, production, QC, warehouse, and dispatch functions while maintaining strict compliance with regulatory standards. The position will support factory operations at Wada while being based out of the Mumbai office.

Key Responsibilities



Purchase & Procurement Management



Manage end-to-end procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, and services Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers on pricing, quality, and delivery terms Ensure materials meet regulatory and quality standards applicable to pharma, food, and cosmetics Monitor vendor performance for timelines, reliability, and service levels Drive cost reduction through negotiation, vendor development, and alternate sourcing

Production Planning & Scheduling



Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on forecasts and order commitments Align material availability, machine capacity, and manpower for timely execution Monitor WIP and batch progress to ensure planning accuracy Minimize downtime and ensure optimal production flow Ensure production targets and dispatch timelines are achieved

Inventory & Material Management



Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking Implement FIFO/FEFO and ensure material traceability as per regulatory requirements Monitor stock of raw materials, packaging materials, spares, and consumables Conduct regular stock audits and ensure ERP/MRP accuracy Reduce wastage, pilferage, and losses through strong control mechanisms

Factory Operations & Coordination



Coordinate across purchase, planning, production, QC, maintenance, and warehouse teams Oversee overall factory operations for efficient and timely workflow Resolve operational bottlenecks through strong cross-functional communication Ensure timely dispatch of finished goods as per customer requirements Handle daily operational challenges and take quick, effective decisions

Compliance, Quality & Documentation



Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, FDA, and other applicable regulatory standards Maintain documentation for audits, traceability, and quality systems Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure batch and material compliance Support internal, external, regulatory, and customer audits

Vendor Development & Supplier Management



Identify and onboard new vendors to improve quality, cost, and supply continuity Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments Build and maintain long-term strategic supplier relationships

Cost Control & Budgeting



Manage procurement budgets and contractual cost controls Monitor operational expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives Improve productivity through lean practices and process improvements

Team Leadership & People Management



Lead purchase, planning, warehouse, and coordination teams Train team members on supply chain processes, systems, and compliance Ensure discipline, accountability, and teamwork across departments Set KPIs, delegate responsibilities, and monitor performance

Reporting & MIS



Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on procurement, planning, inventory, and operations Provide management with accurate updates on material status, production progress, and risks Use ERP/MRP systems for procurement, planning, and inventory tracking

Requirements



Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Pharmacy, Food Technology, or a related field MBA in Operations or Supply Chain is an added advantage 10+ years of experience in purchase and production planning within manufacturing units Strong experience in pharma, food, or cosmetics manufacturing environments In-depth knowledge of procurement, supply chain, and production planning Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Tally, Oracle, or similar Strong negotiation, leadership, coordination, and decision-making skills Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving abilities
