Factory Manager - Furniture Industry (Key Roles & Responsibilities)1. Production Planning & Control
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production plans.
Allocate manpower, materials, and machines for timely completion of orders.
Monitor production schedules and adjust plans to avoid delays.
Ensure efficient workflow across cutting, machining, assembling, polishing, and packing departments.
2. Quality Assurance & Standards
Implement strict quality inspection at every stage of manufacturing.
Ensure products meet company specifications, dimensions, finishing standards, and durability requirements.
Reduce rejection and rework through continuous quality improvements.
3. Raw Material & Inventory Management
Monitor stock of wood, boards, hardware, upholstery, adhesives, paints, and other materials.
Coordinate with purchase department to ensure timely material supply.
Control wastage of wood, laminates, foam, and other raw materials.
4. Machine & Equipment Management
Ensure all machines (CNC, panel saw, edge banding, spindle moulder, sanding, etc.) are maintained properly.
Schedule preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
Ensure safe operation of tools and machinery.
5. Workforce & Team Management
Supervise supervisors, machine operators, carpenters, finishers, helpers, etc.
Ensure proper training, discipline, and skill enhancement of employees.
Monitor attendance, shift duties, and labour productivity.
6. Safety & Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to safety rules and PPE usage.
Maintain fire safety, chemical handling safety (polish, thinner, adhesives), and machine safety.
Ensure compliance with factory rules, labour laws, and environmental regulations.
7. Process Improvement & Efficiency
Introduce lean manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen practices.
Reduce process time, material wastage, and labour cost.
Improve production flow and workstation layouts.
8. Cost Control & Budget Management
Monitor production cost, machine usage cost, and labour cost.
Reduce unnecessary expenses by optimizing processes.
Ensure energy conservation in machinery and utilities.
9. Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with design, purchase, sales, and dispatch teams for smooth operations.
Maintain production reports, quality reports, and rejection analysis.
Participate in management meetings for strategic planning.
10. Order Fulfilment & Customer Requirements
Ensure products are manufactured according to customer drawings/specifications.
Monitor timely dispatch of finished goods.
Handle urgent orders, custom requirements, and large project deliveries.
