Job Overview:

We are looking for a disciplined Factory Floor Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing operations with precision and integrity. This role is ideal for a retired professional from the Army Base Workshop or similar defense engineering background seeking a meaningful "second innings" in a structured and performance-driven industrial environment. The position requires hands-on expertise in machining, fabrication, and shop floor supervision, ensuring production targets are met efficiently while maintaining strict safety, quality, and discipline standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and coordinate day-to-day machine shop operations, including lathe, milling, drilling, and fabrication activities. Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of machinists, fitters, and welders to ensure smooth workflow and timely output. Plan, monitor, and achieve daily and monthly production schedules in alignment with organizational goals. Interpret engineering and fabrication drawings accurately for production and quality assurance.oImplement and monitor 5S, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing practices to ensure a clean, organized, and efficient workplace. Conduct routine inspections of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure optimal maintenance, calibration, and performance. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, discipline, and operational standards at all times. Optimize material utilization (SS, MS, and other metals) and minimize waste to enhance cost-effectiveness. Maintain comprehensive records of daily production reports, manpower utilization, and machine performance. Collaborate with management for process improvements, preventive maintenance plans, and skill enhancement initiatives. Foster a culture of discipline, teamwork, and accountability across all levels of the workforce.

Qualifications:

Diploma / ITI / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline). 10-20 years of relevant experience in production, machining, or fabrication operations. Preference for retired professionals from Army Base Workshop, Defense Engineering Services, or Technical Corps with practical exposure to workshop operations. Strong understanding of machine shop practices, metalworking tools, and industrial safety standards. Working knowledge of production planning, manpower handling, and process improvement techniques.

Skills:

Technical Expertise

Hands-on knowledge of lathe, milling, drilling, grinding, and welding operations.oAbility to read and interpret mechanical and fabrication drawings. Familiarity with material handling and machining of SS, MS, and alloy metals.

Leadership & Supervision

Team management experience with fitters, machinists, and welders. Ability to train, motivate, and discipline workforce while maintaining team morale. Strong sense of ownership, punctuality, and integrity.

Operational Efficiency

Proficiency in production scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization. Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and Lean Manufacturing practices. Adept at maintaining machine uptime and preventive maintenance planning.

Behavioral & Soft Skills

Excellent communication and coordination abilities. Strong problem-solving and decision-making aptitude. High level of discipline, reliability, and adaptability to operational challenges. Physically fit, alert, and capable of hands-on supervision on the shop floor.
