The Facility Manager is responsible for the effective management, maintenance, and safety of hospital infrastructure, utilities, and support services. The role ensures uninterrupted hospital operations, compliance with statutory norms, and a safe, patient-friendly environment.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Maintenance
Oversee day-to-day maintenance of hospital buildings, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas systems, lifts, and utilities
Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance schedules are strictly followed
Coordinate with biomedical, engineering, and external vendors
Housekeeping & Support Services
Monitor housekeeping, security, waste management, laundry, and pest control services
Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control standards are maintained as per NABH norms
Vendor & Contract Management
Manage facility vendors, AMC contracts, and service-level agreements (SLAs)
Evaluate vendor performance and ensure cost-effective operations
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (Fire & Safety, Pollution Control, Electrical Safety, Lift License, etc.)
Conduct regular safety audits, mock drills, and risk assessments
Maintain documentation for NABH, ISO, and other hospital accreditations
Energy & Cost Management
Monitor utility consumption (power, water, diesel) and implement cost-saving initiatives
Prepare budgets related to facility operations and maintenance
Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with clinical and non-clinical departments for facility-related needs
Prepare MIS reports, maintenance logs, and compliance reports for management
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Facility Management / Hospital Administration (preferred)
5-10 years of experience in
hospital or healthcare facility management
Strong knowledge of hospital infrastructure, utilities, and compliance norms
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Vendor management and negotiation skills
Knowledge of NABH standards and statutory compliance
Ability to handle emergencies and multitask in a hospital environment
Good communication and coordination skills
Preferred Experience
Experience in multi-specialty hospitals
Exposure to NABH accreditation processes
Familiarity with biomedical equipment coordination
