Job Description

The Facade Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates by meticulously reviewing BOQs, architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents. The role involves evaluating all technical and commercial elements of facade, doors, and window systems and ensuring that estimates reflect the complete scope, material specifications, fabrication complexity, and installation conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

BOQ & Drawing Review:

Analyze tender documents, architectural and structural drawings, and BOQs to extract scope and quantify materials. Identify discrepancies, missing information, or inconsistencies in BOQs or drawings. Interpret architectural intent and translate it into accurate material and fabrication estimates.

Estimation & Costing:

Prepare detailed cost estimates for facade elements such as curtain walls, ACP cladding, glazing, doors, windows (aluminium/UPVC/steel), louvers, and associated support systems. Include all direct and indirect costs such as material, fabrication, labour, transportation, installation, scaffolding/access, and wastages. Factor in glass specifications (DGU/SGU/laminated), hardware requirements, finishes (anodized/powder-coated), sealants, gaskets, etc. Consider site conditions, project complexity, and elevation challenges while estimating.

Vendor Coordination & Rate Analysis:

Liaise with vendors and suppliers to obtain material pricing, lead times, and technical data. Perform market rate analysis and maintain updated price databases for materials and subcontracted works.

Technical Evaluation:

Suggest value engineering options without compromising performance and aesthetics. Collaborate with the design team to evaluate feasibility and identify cost-effective solutions.

Documentation & Reporting:

Prepare and submit complete estimation files including scope breakdown, assumptions, exclusions, and technical notes. Maintain detailed records of estimates, vendor quotes, and pricing models for future reference and revisions.

Team Support:

Support sales and business development teams in preparing commercial proposals. Attend pre-bid meetings and provide estimation clarifications to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Strong understanding of facade systems, curtain walls, aluminium doors and windows. Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings. Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and estimation software. Analytical mindset with attention to detail. Familiarity with fabrication methods, hardware selection, finishes, and glazing options. Knowledge of relevant IS/ASTM/EN standards for facade systems and windows.

Qualifications & Experience:

Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field. Minimum 3-6 years of experience in facade estimation or related domain. Experience working with aluminium system vendors, facade contractors, or fenestration companies is preferred.
