The Fabric Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the fabric warehouse -- including receiving, storing, issuing, inventory control, and documentation of fabrics. The role ensures that all fabric movements are properly tracked, quality-checked, and made available to production as per plan, maintaining accuracy, accountability, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fabric Receipt & Inspection
Supervise the unloading and receiving of fabrics from suppliers.
Verify fabrics against purchase orders and delivery challans.
Coordinate with the QA department for fabric quality inspection and approval.
Record and maintain GRN (Goods Received Note) and inspection reports.
2. Storage & Inventory Management
Organize and maintain the warehouse layout to ensure easy identification and traceability.
Implement proper fabric segregation (by type, color, lot, roll number, etc.).
Ensure fabrics are stored under suitable environmental conditions.
Maintain up-to-date inventory records (physical & system-based).
Conduct periodic stock audits and reconcile discrepancies.
3. Fabric Issue to Production
Plan and issue fabric to cutting or production departments as per requisition.
Maintain fabric issue slips, acknowledgment, and return notes.
Track fabric consumption and returns from production for cost control.
4. Documentation & ERP/System Management
Update stock movement in ERP or manual registers on a daily basis.
Maintain records for GRN, fabric issue/return, transfer, and stock reports.
Generate monthly MIS reports on stock status and fabric utilization.
5. Coordination & Communication
Liaise with purchase, merchandising, production, and quality teams for material planning.
Coordinate with transport/logistics for timely fabric movement.
Support internal and external audits (commercial or compliance).
6. Compliance & Safety
Ensure adherence to company policies, safety norms, and compliance standards.
Maintain housekeeping standards and fire safety precautions in the warehouse.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of
fabric types, GSM, dye lots, and shrinkage control

Good understanding of
garment production workflow

Proficiency in
Excel and ERP/Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

Analytical, detail-oriented, and strong problem-solving skills.
