Job Description

As a Fabric Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of fabric sourcing, procurement, quality control, and inventory management within the organization. You will play a critical role in ensuring the availability of high-quality fabrics to support production needs and meet customer requirements. This position requires strong industry knowledge, supply chain expertise, and effective leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1.

Fabric Sourcing and Procurement:

Identify and establish relationships with reliable fabric suppliers, mills, and vendors domestically and internationally. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure favorable agreements for fabric procurement. Continuously evaluate supplier performance and capabilities to ensure the availability of high-quality fabrics that meet cost and quality standards.

Supplier Management:

Manage relationships with fabric suppliers and vendors, including monitoring delivery schedules, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements. Work closely with suppliers to address quality concerns, resolve disputes, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Fabric Quality Control:

Develop and implement fabric quality control procedures to ensure that all incoming fabrics meet established standards and specifications. Conduct inspections, testing, and evaluation of fabric samples to assess quality, consistency, and performance. Work collaboratively with production teams to address any quality issues and implement improvements in fabric manufacturing processes.

Inventory Management:

Oversee fabric inventory management activities, including forecasting, planning, and replenishment. Maintain optimal levels of fabric inventory to support production schedules while minimizing excess stock and carrying costs. Implement inventory control measures to track fabric usage, monitor stock levels, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Cost Management:

Monitor fabric costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization and savings. Analyze pricing trends, negotiate bulk discounts, and explore alternative sourcing options to achieve cost efficiencies without compromising quality or reliability. Work closely with finance and procurement teams to develop budgets and cost projections related to fabric procurement.

Product Development Support:

Collaborate with product development teams to source new fabrics, materials, and technologies that align with design requirements and performance specifications. Provide technical expertise and guidance on fabric selection, sourcing options, and availability to support product innovation and differentiation.

7.

Compliance and Sustainability:

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and certifications related to fabric sourcing, production, and sustainability. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in sustainable fabric sourcing and manufacturing. Implement initiatives to promote ethical sourcing practices, reduce environmental impact, and support corporate social responsibility goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design, production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to align fabric sourcing and procurement activities with overall business objectives. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to address fabric-related issues, provide updates on sourcing status, and support project timelines.

9.

Vendor Performance Evaluation:

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure supplier performance, quality, and delivery reliability. Conduct regular performance reviews and assessments of fabric suppliers to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities for collaboration. Develop action plans to address performance issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Market Research and Trend Analysis:

Stay abreast of market trends, innovations, and emerging technologies in the fabric industry. Conduct market research, attend trade shows, and engage with industry associations to identify new fabric trends, suppliers, and sourcing opportunities. Use market insights to inform fabric sourcing strategies and make data-driven decisions.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree is a plus.

Proven experience in fabric sourcing, procurement, and inventory management, preferably within the textile or apparel industry.

Strong knowledge of fabric types, properties, and manufacturing processes.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Solid understanding of supply chain principles, logistics, and inventory control practices.

Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and supply chain management software.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and manage cross-functional teams.

Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and sustainability practices in fabric sourcing and production.

The Fabric Manager plays a pivotal role in managing the fabric supply chain from sourcing to procurement, ensuring the availability of high-quality fabrics that meet production requirements and customer expectations. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, supply chain management skills, and strategic thinking to effectively source, procure, and manage fabric inventory while optimizing costs and quality.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
