The Eye Counsellor plays a crucial role in guiding patients through the process of diagnosis, treatment, and surgical procedures related to eye care. This position requires a compassionate, well-informed individual who can clearly explain eye conditions, procedures (like cataract or LASIK surgery), and post-operative care to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
Educate patients on various eye conditions, treatments, and surgical procedures.
Assist patients in understanding the need for surgery or treatment as advised by the ophthalmologist.
Guide patients through the treatment and surgical scheduling process.
Provide pre- and post-operative counselling and instructions.
Address patient concerns with empathy and clarity.
Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and counselling notes.
Support in the coordination of community outreach eye camps or screening events.
Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmologists, and administrative staff for holistic patient care.
Qualifications & Skills:
qualification : optometry
Certification in patient counselling or ophthalmic assistant training is a plus.
2+years of experience in a hospital, clinic, or eye care setting preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to speak local languages is highly desirable.
Basic knowledge of eye conditions like cataract, glaucoma, refractive errors, etc.
