The Global Trade Manager - Biscuits & Bakery will be responsible for managing and optimizing all international trade activities across the company's biscuits and bakery portfolio. The role ensures compliance with global trade regulations, develops efficient supply chain and logistics strategies, and drives expansion into new international markets. Acting as the central link between commercial, supply chain, regulatory, and finance teams, this role will ensure smooth cross-border trade operations while supporting the company's global growth ambitions.
Ensure full compliance with international trade laws, food safety standards, and import/export regulations.
Manage and maintain accurate trade documentation (HS codes, customs declarations, certificates of origin, health & phytosanitary certificates, etc.).
Stay up to date on evolving tariffs, free trade agreements, and regulatory requirements impacting the biscuits & bakery category.
Logistics & Supply Chain Management
Oversee global logistics for biscuits and bakery shipments, including warehousing, freight forwarding, and customs clearance.
Negotiate contracts with logistics service providers to optimize cost and service performance.
Develop risk-mitigation strategies for supply chain disruptions (currency fluctuations, political instability, raw material shortages).
Market Development & Commercial Support
Partner with regional sales teams to identify and unlock growth opportunities in new and existing international markets.
Provide trade insights, landed-cost analysis, and pricing guidance to support commercial decision-making.
Ensure product packaging and labeling meet local market regulations and cultural expectations.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Collaborate with R&D and Quality Assurance to ensure biscuits and bakery products meet export market specifications.
Work with marketing and packaging teams to align on product adaptations for regional compliance.
Provide training and guidance to local teams on trade policies and operational best practices.
Financial & Risk Management
Monitor and forecast duties, tariffs, and international trade costs to ensure budget accuracy.
Develop strategies to reduce duty/tax exposure and optimize use of trade agreements.
Track and report trade KPIs, ensuring cost efficiency and timely delivery.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (MBA preferred).
8+ years of experience in global trade, import/export, or supply chain within FMCG, preferably food or bakery sectors.
Strong knowledge of customs compliance, food trade regulations, and international logistics.
Proven expertise in negotiating freight and logistics contracts.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial acumen.
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
Proficiency with ERP systems and trade management software.
Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
