Job Description


Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals. Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Works under general direction. Within our daily operations we strive to have quick turnaround times for operator queries, release service letters and fleet team digest articles to keep operators informed, find solutions to address systemic fleet issues, and work collaboratively at customer meetings to maximize fleet performance and customer satisfaction. Boeing India Engineering is currently looking for a Experienced Mechanical Systems Customer Support Engineer (Payloads/Interiors) to join the team in Bangalore, India. This position will focus on providing 24/7 support to Boeing commercial airplane customers. This position offers a unique opportunity to work complex technical challenges in support of safety operation and return to service. Primary Responsibilities: Provides technical, design and informational support for basic production, product support or in-service issues. Troubleshoots aircraft system problems consistent with operational protocols. Reviews various Boeing documentation (e.g., maintenance documentation, parts list, component manuals, etc.) to identify solution(s) for in-service concerns and look proactively for potential future fleet solutions. Reviews drawings and installations to ensure customer questions/concerns are resolved. Supports and/or creates and provides basic technical documentation (e.g. Fleet Team Digest articles, service letters, drawings, specifications, documents, data sets, design folders, test requirements documents, manuals) in accordance with engineering processes and procedures for internal reference or external delivery. Assists with the study and assessment of technology development by gathering data, supporting testing and documenting findings. Supports review of technical design, analysis, and production by reviewing documentation, participating in design reviews, and observing tests and audits to ensure compliance. Assists with the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies. Supports and/or leads the research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer. Assists in designing and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service. Works with and possibly directing cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances. Assists in the development of customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment. Assists in solving problems and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle. The position requires flexibility to address emergent issues and important airline meetings off-hours and may require an occasional off-shift work schedule to support the fleet operating 24 hours/7 days a week/365 day of the year. BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 8 or more years\' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master and related work experience) Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Master\'s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Overall Experience 10+ Years Minimum 7+ years of experience in Interiors and Payload Systems. Experience with Boeing 7-series airplanes. Experience in system\'s failure analysis, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting on Boeing commercial airplane models. Conversant with aircraft maintenance manuals (AMM and FIM), IPC, WDM, CMM, AHM, and service documentation (FTD, SLs, etc.). Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Experience supporting end users in a customer service role. Experience collaborating with multiple team functions. Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience. Experience with airworthiness regulatory agencies. Knowledge of payload systems installed on Boeing commercial airplane models (software and hardware) as it applies to maintenance and operations. Knowledge of repair, maintenance and retrofit processes, practices, and documentation. Knowledge of airplane\'s maintenance and flight operation documentation. Knowledge of the Airworthiness Directives and related Service documents. Knowledge of aircraft safety and quality management systems.
