A Production Executive in the herbal industry is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring products are made efficiently, on time, and in strict adherence to quality and safety standards, such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The role involves production planning, staff supervision, quality control, and maintaining detailed documentation.
Duties & Responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations:
Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring smooth and efficient operations in all stages, including herbal extraction, concentration, drying, blending, granulation, compression, coating, and packaging.
Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and implement production plans and schedules to ensure timely completion of batches and optimal utilization of resources (manpower, equipment, raw materials).
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to quality standards and regulatory guidelines, including GMP, ISO, FSSAI, and KOSHAR, HALAL, HACCP, protocols. Monitor critical process parameters to maintain consistent product quality.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and real-time documentation, including Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), equipment logbooks, and shift production logs, ensuring full traceability and compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
Team Management & Training:
Supervise, manage, and train production staff and operators on SOPs, hygiene practices, and safety procedures. Foster a culture of discipline and continuous improvement within the team.
Coordination:
Collaborate effectively with other departments, including Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Maintenance, and Warehouse/Procurement, to resolve issues and ensure seamless operations and material availability.
Equipment Management:
Monitor production equipment performance, coordinate preventative maintenance and calibration schedules, and ensure all machinery is in good operational condition.
Problem Solving & Improvement:
Identify production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce wastage.
Safety & Environment:
Implement and enforce all health and safety protocols and environmental norms within the manufacturing area.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related scientific/technical field.
Experience:
2-8 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably within the herbal, ayurvedic, pharmaceutical, or food industry.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of production processes in herbal extraction/formulation and relevant regulatory requirements (GMP, FSSAI, etc.).
Skills:
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with production planning or ERP software system
Preferred:
Experience with specific processes like solvent extraction, spray drying, or manufacturing of tablets, capsules, and liquids.
Certifications in quality management (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) or health and safety
