Job Description

To operate, monitor, and maintain

Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)

,

Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)

,

Reverse Osmosis (RO)

System,

De-mineralization (DM)

Plant, and

Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE)

facilities in an efficient and compliant manner.
The role ensures that all treated water and effluent streams meet prescribed quality parameters, statutory norms, and company sustainability standards while optimizing resource usage and maintaining continuous plant availability.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:A. Operation and Process Control

Operate all water and wastewater treatment systems (STP, ETP, RO, DM, MEE) according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Monitor real-time process parameters such as pH, conductivity, TDS, turbidity, DO, flow rate, pressure, temperature, and chemical dosing levels. Adjust chemical dosing, pump speeds, aeration rates, and process flows based on lab results and operational requirements. Manage daily startup and shutdown of equipment, including pumps, blowers, agitators, compressors, dosing systems, and valves. Maintain consistent effluent discharge and water recovery quality within limits set by GPCB/CPCB.

Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Operations

Oversee collection, screening, aeration, clarification, and sludge handling operations. Monitor biological parameters and ensure optimum microbial growth in aeration tanks. Manage sludge dewatering and safe disposal. Ensure reuse or discharge of treated sewage meets water quality standards

Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Operations

Operate and maintain physico-chemical and biological treatment processes including equalization, coagulation, flocculation, clarification, aeration, and filtration units. Regulate flow and dosage of chemicals such as alum, lime, PAC, and polyelectrolyte. Conduct jar tests periodically for dosage optimization. Record inlet and outlet parameters such as pH, COD, BOD, SS, and TDS.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) & De-mineralization (DM) Plant

Operate pre-treatment systems (sand filter, carbon filter, softener) and RO/DM units. Monitor conductivity, permeate flow, and recovery ratios. Perform backwashing, membrane cleaning (CIP), and resin regeneration as per schedule. Maintain raw water and product water quality within specifications. Record salt rejection percentage, pressure differential, and chemical consumption.

Education:

ITI / Diploma in Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical / Environmental Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

2-5 years of experience in operation and maintenance of STP, ETP, RO, DM, and MEE plants in industrial sectors (e.g., chemical, pharma, food, or water treatment).

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of wastewater and water treatment processes. Familiar with online and laboratory instruments (pH, DO, TDS, COD/BOD analyzer, conductivity meters). Capable of reading P&ID diagrams and understanding flow and process controls. Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge. Understanding of chemical storage and dosing safety.
