Calculate man-hour requirements based on historical data and productivity rates.
Source material prices and subcontractor quotes.
Ensure estimates reflect realistic timelines and resource availability.
Coordination
Liaise with production, engineering, and procurement teams for input on technical feasibility and cost implications.
Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
Post-Project Review
Compare estimated vs. actual costs to improve future pricing accuracy.
Update cost databases and productivity benchmarks.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all estimates comply with classification society rules, statutory requirements, and company standards.
Maintain organized records of estimates, quotations, and supporting data.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Diploma/Degree in Marine/Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.
Experience:
3-5 years in ship repair estimating, shipyard operations, or marine engineering.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of ship structures, machinery, and repair processes.
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Project, and costing software.
Familiarity with classification society rules and SOLAS regulations.
Soft Skills:
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and negotiation skills.
