The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for interior design, fit-out, and refurbishment projects. This includes analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. The Estimator collaborates with designers, project managers, procurement, and contractors to ensure the proposal aligns with budgetary and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimate Preparation:
Analyze project drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Quantify materials using take-offs from architectural and interior drawings.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
Source and obtain competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Evaluate bids for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications.
Maintain a database of material prices and subcontractor rates.
Proposal Development:
Prepare tender submissions, bill of quantities (BOQ), and pricing schedules.
Assist in value engineering to meet client budgets without compromising design quality.
Collaborate with the design and sales team to develop competitive bids.
Cost Control and Analysis:
Monitor actual costs vs. estimated costs during execution stages.
Provide post-project analysis to refine future estimates.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain records of estimates, proposals, changes, and pricing history.
Prepare internal reports for management on bidding outcomes and market trends.
Collaboration and Communication:
Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings to understand project requirements.
Communicate clearly with project stakeholders, including clients and team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
3-7 years of estimation experience,
preferably in interior fit only
Strong knowledge of interior design materials, finishes, and construction methods.
Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Candy, Excel).
Familiarity with reading and interpreting CAD drawings and BOQs.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Good communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with commercial, hospitality, and residential interior projects.
Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and material standards.
Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is a plus.
