Job Description


1. JOB PURPOSE
The Estimation Specialist plays a pivotal role in the organizations Engineering and Projects function by developing and maintaining accurate estimation modules for various activities within the portfolio. This is a global position and the primary purpose of this role is to build or validate estimations time to time for the projects across regions. The specialist is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive database of global costs for goods and services, continuously updating it with market changes, and providing specific inputs to design and solutions teams to achieve economical designs.2. RESPONSIBILITIES
Estimation Module Development: Develop and update estimation modules for plant, machinery, and services across different countries and regions, ensuring accuracy and reliability in cost estimations.
Database Management: Establish and maintain a robust database containing global costs of Equipment, goods and services, benchmarking against industry standards, and arriving at practical costing mechanisms for various projects.
Market Analysis: Continuously monitor and analyze global market prices and events that impact project costing, ensuring that estimation models are aligned with current market trends and fluctuations.
Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to collect quotes and relevant information necessary for accurate project costing, ensuring that procurement decisions are based on up-to-date cost data.
Input Provision: Keep abreast of the advancements in the Industry & provide specific inputs and recommendations to Design Solutions teams to achieve economical designs, optimizing project costs while meeting quality and performance requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams across different countries and regions to ensure accurate project costing and standardization of estimation processes.
Standardization: Ensure standardization of estimation processes across various opportunities and geographies, implementing best practices to streamline and optimize estimation workflows.
Documentation: Contribute to project documentation related to estimation and costing activities, maintaining comprehensive records of estimation methodologies, assumptions, and outcomes.3. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Engineering and Design Teams: Provide specific inputs and recommendations to achieve economical designs while meeting project requirements.
  • Procurement and Central Procurement Teams: Coordinate and communicate regarding global costs of goods and services, ensuring alignment with estimation models and procurement
decisions.
  • Vendors and Suppliers: Collaborate to collect quotes and relevant information necessary for accurate project costing, fostering strong vendor relationships.
  • Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams across different countries and regions to ensure accurate project costing and standardization of estimation processes.
4. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES/COMPETENCIES
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Production Engineering
Extensive experience in estimation, costing, and project documentation within the manufacturing / engineering / EPC / Consulting firms.
In-depth knowledge of global costs for goods and services, imports and exports processes, and logistics dealing with CFA.
Competencies
Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities, with the capacity to effectively liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
Proven experience in working with multinational, multicultural teams, fostering collaboration and achieving common goals.
Proficiency in MS Projects and other relevant software, with the ability to utilize technology for efficient estimation and documentation.
Systematic and process-oriented approach, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Strong conceptualization and solution-finding abilities, with the capacity to devise innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Ability to manage conflicts and convince stakeholders, with a diplomatic and persuasive communication style.
Good English language proficiency, both written and spoken, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Experience in global organizations (MNC) preferred, with a demonstrated understanding of international business practices and dynamics.
