The Firefighting Designer & Estimation Engineer is responsible for designing fire protection systems, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role requires strong technical expertise in fire protection design, analytical skills in estimation, and proficiency in relevant engineering software.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering:
Develop detailed fire protection system designs, biased on Provision NOC given by client including sprinklers, Hydrant, Fire Pump Room, Alarm, and suppression systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA, FM Global, NBC and local fire codes.
Utilize CAD, PIPENET, Microsoft Projects software and hydraulic calculation tools to create accurate fire protection layouts.
Conduct site surveys to assess fire safety requirements and develop design solutions accordingly.
Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and project managers to integrate fire protection systems into overall building designs.
Estimation & Costing:
Read tender documents thoroughly, analyzing project requirements and preparing cost estimates for materials, labor, and other resources.
Prepare accurate cost estimates, material take-offs, and bill of quantities for fire protection systems.
Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine project scope and budget requirements.
Must have 4-5 years of experience in related field.
Obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to optimize cost-efficiency.
Assist in bid preparation, tender submissions, and contract negotiations.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure fire system designs adhere to applicable regulations, standards, and client requirements.
Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and compliance statements.
Support the procurement team in selecting fire protection equipment and materials.
Project Execution & Support Responsibilities
Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) based on the Provision NOC and approved drawings.
Develop detailed estimates and costing reports in alignment with project specifications.
Supervise site activities and support the execution of fire protection works as required.
Coordinate with the Purchase Department to assist in the procurement of fire protection materials and equipment.
Participate in the evaluation and finalisation of contractors for fire protection projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
Engineering Degree: A relevant engineering degree (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical) is typically required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit), estimation software, and relevant industry standards.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess project requirements and identify potential issues.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teams and clients.
Project Management Skills: Understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
Costing and Budgeting: Knowledge of cost estimation techniques and budgeting processes.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
