Job Title:

Estimation Engineer - Infrastructure (Roads, Bridges, Buildings)

Job Summary:



The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and technical proposals for infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and buildings. The role involves detailed analysis of drawings, specifications, and tender documents, and working closely with planning, design, procurement, and execution teams to ensure competitive and compliant bid submissions.

Key Responsibilities:



Tender Analysis:

Study and evaluate tender documents including BOQ, drawings, specifications, and technical requirements. Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to understand the project scope and constraints.

Quantity Take-Offs:

Extract quantities from GFC (Good for Construction) and tender drawings using standard measurement practices. Validate BOQ quantities and highlight discrepancies.

Cost Estimation:

Prepare detailed cost estimates (material, manpower, machinery, subcontracting, overheads, etc.) for civil infrastructure works. Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for obtaining competitive quotations.

Rate Analysis:

Conduct rate analysis of items based on current market trends and internal benchmarks. Maintain and update a rate database for major materials, labor, and equipment.

Bid Compilation:

Prepare and submit technical and commercial bid proposals within deadlines. Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts, construction schedules, and method statements for bids.

Value Engineering:

Provide cost-effective alternatives and value engineering solutions during bid stage to enhance competitiveness.

Coordination:

Coordinate with planning, execution, and design teams for technical inputs and validations. Work closely with finance and contracts team to ensure compliance with commercial terms.

Required Skills & Qualifications:



Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's preferred). 3-8 years of experience in estimation for infrastructure projects (roads, highways, bridges, commercial/residential buildings). Strong knowledge of construction techniques, standard codes (IRC, IS codes), and market practices. Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Excel, Candy, Primavera, CostX, etc.). Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. Good communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities. Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

Desirable:



Experience with government and private sector infrastructure tenders. Familiarity with EPC/Lump Sum/Item Rate contracts. Experience in techno-commercial evaluations and tender negotiations.
