Review lab reports (LFT, PT/INR, CBC)
Check allergies (contrast media, medications)
Establish IV access and prepare emergency drugs
Educate patient and relatives about the procedure
Intra-Procedure Responsibilities
Assist gastroenterologist during ERCP procedures
Prepare and handle
endoscopes, accessories, contrast media
Monitor
vital signs, oxygen saturation, ECG
Administer medications/sedation as prescribed
Maintain strict
aseptic and radiation safety protocols
Post-Procedure Responsibilities
Monitor patient for complications such as
pancreatitis, bleeding, perforation, infection
Assess abdominal pain, vomiting, fever, and vitals
Maintain NPO until gag reflex returns
Provide post-procedure instructions to patient and family
Assist in patient transfer and handover
Equipment & Infection Control
Perform cleaning, disinfection, and storage of
endoscopes and ERCP instruments
Ensure proper functioning of endoscopy equipment
Follow
infection control and biomedical waste policies
Documentation & Coordination
Maintain accurate
procedure notes, nursing records, and checklists
Coordinate with doctors, anesthesia team, and recovery staff
Participate in audits, quality improvement, and safety initiatives
