to provide efficient and high-quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department. The nurse will be responsible for timely assessment, interventions, and coordination of care in line with hospital protocols and emergency guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend all in-service training programs conducted by the hospital.
Get oriented to the ER routine, equipment usage, and types of emergency cases.
Provide professional and prompt nursing care within the ER, following established clinical standards and protocols.
Prepare and implement individualized nursing care plans to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Complete the nursing assessment and care plan documentation within the specified timeframe.
Take over assigned inventory and equipment, and report any discrepancies to the ER in-charge.
Participate in bedside rounds, observe and record patient symptoms, and promptly report clinical changes.
Check and record vital signs legibly, accurately, and without delay.
Implement all protocols and best practices related to:
Hand hygiene
Infection control
Medication administration
Narcotics policy
Biomedical waste management
Handle ER equipment and gadgets carefully and confidently.
Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures; assist with patient activities and care.
Accurately execute physician's orders, including medication administration and investigations.
Ensure safe medication practices by following the rights of medication administration.
Collect specimens as ordered and ensure correct labelling and entry in HMIS.
Assist doctors during procedures and provide relevant patient updates during rounds.
Maintain personal, patient, and environmental hygiene and cleanliness.
Follow safety and accident prevention protocols.
Promptly report and record any incidents or adverse events.
Maintain accurate and complete unit records and documentation.
Complete the pre-operative checklist before shifting patients for surgery.
Follow and report all infection control protocols as per hospital policy.
Qualifications:
Diploma / B.Sc. in Nursing
Registered Nurse with a valid Nursing Council Registration
Preferably with
experience in Emergency or Critical Care Nursing
Skills Required:
Strong clinical and emergency response skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Knowledge of emergency equipment and triage protocols
Calm, quick decision-maker under pressure
Proficiency in using HMIS systems and documentation
