Job Description

:

We are looking for a skilled

EPUB Developer

with hands-on experience in developing

EPUB2 and EPUB3

files, specifically for

science and mathematics books

. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of

MathML

, accessibility standards, and eBook validation tools to ensure high-quality, standards-compliant digital publications.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and convert content into

EPUB2 and EPUB3

formats for various devices and reading platforms. Structure and format eBooks using

HTML, CSS, XML

, ensuring consistency and readability. Handle

mathematical equations using MathML

, including complex formulas for science and mathematics publications. Work on

STEM content (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering books)

with accuracy and attention to detail. Use

editorial and XML editors such as Epsilon

(or similar tools) for content editing and cleanup. Implement and maintain

accessibility standards

such as

WCAG, ARIA, DAISY

, including proper semantic tagging and navigation. Optimize, validate, and troubleshoot EPUB files using tools such as

Sigil, EPUBCheck

, and related utilities. Ensure proper handling of figures, tables, equations, footnotes, cross-references, and multimedia elements. Collaborate with editorial and QA teams to resolve technical and content-related issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience in

EPUB development

for educational or academic publications. Strong knowledge of

MathML

for rendering mathematical and scientific equations. Hands-on experience with

science and mathematics textbooks

. Proficiency in

HTML5, CSS3, XML, and XHTML

. Experience using

Epsilon editor or similar XML/EPUB editing tools

. Good understanding of

EPUB accessibility and compliance standards

. Experience with

EPUB validation and QA workflows

. Familiarity with eReading systems such as

Kindle, Apple Books, Adobe Digital Editions

, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with

STEM publishers or educational content providers

. Knowledge of

LaTeX-to-MathML

conversion (added advantage). Understanding of

Inkling, VitalSource, or other digital learning platforms

. Prior exposure to

engineering or scientific publishing workflows
