The Environment & Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations within the chemical manufacturing facility. The role focuses on developing and implementing safety programs, reducing risk, enhancing workplace safety culture, and ensuring adherence to statutory requirements, particularly those related to hazardous chemicals.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, SOPs, and systems specific to chemical manufacturing operations.
Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and national environmental and safety regulations.
Oversee safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials, chemicals, and waste.
Maintain and manage documentation for statutory submissions (consents, permits, manifests, compliance reports, audit reports, etc.).
Plan and conduct EHS audits, incident investigations, and root cause analysis (RCA), and ensure timely corrective actions.
Coordinate with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and external auditors during inspections and audits.
Evaluate and ensure performance of fire & safety equipment and emergency systems
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's / Master's degree in Chemical Engineering / Environmental Engineering / Industrial Safety / Diploma in Industrial Safety (Mandatory)
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, hazardous materials management, and emergency response standards.
Certification in NEBOSH / IOSH / ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 preferred.
