Job description
The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, procedures, and programs that ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role focuses on protecting employees, minimizing risks, promoting sustainability, and ensuring safe and environmentally responsible business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS laws, regulations, and standards.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Prepare and submit statutory reports to regulatory authorities.
Health & Safety Management
Develop, implement, and oversee workplace health and safety programs.
Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
Provide safety training and awareness programs to employees.
Promote a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Environmental Management
Oversee waste management, water, air quality, and hazardous material handling.
Develop sustainability initiatives to reduce the company's environmental footprint.
Implement environmental monitoring and reporting systems.
Drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Emergency Preparedness
Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
Conduct regular drills and ensure readiness for workplace emergencies.
Audits & Reporting
Lead internal EHS audits and coordinate external audits.
Track, analyze, and report EHS performance metrics.
Identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions.
Leadership & Collaboration
Provide guidance to management and staff on EHS matters.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS into business operations.
Lead and mentor EHS team members, contractors, and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
Professional certifications preferred (NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.).
Proven experience (5+ years) in EHS management in [manufacturing/chemical/construction/etc. -- adapt as needed].
Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to influence and drive a safety-first culture.
