We are looking for an

English Teacher

who is more than just an instructor -- someone who can be a

mentor, storyteller, and language guide

. The ideal candidate will help students see English not as a burden, but as a

gateway to new worlds, ideas, and self-expression

Role Summary:



As an English Teacher at Doon Imperial School, you will guide students from

Grades 5 to 10

through their journey of discovering the

power of language

. You will teach the beauty of

poetry, prose, drama, storytelling

, and nurture a lifelong connection with books. More importantly, you will meet the students where they are -- many of whom have limited exposure to English -- and patiently build their confidence, fluency, and imagination.

Key Responsibilities:



Teach English literature and language in a

creative, interactive, and student-centered

manner Spark interest in

poetry, prose, and storytelling

through discussion, performance, and writing Develop students'

vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and spelling

through engaging techniques Foster

reading habits

through curated reading programs, library hours, book reviews, and class reading circles Organize and lead

elocution competitions, dramatics, debates, creative writing contests

, and

spelling bees

Encourage students to think, feel, and express through language -- not just for grades, but for life Identify individual learning needs and tailor support accordingly, especially for English language beginners Collaborate with colleagues on cross-disciplinary projects (e.g., Literature + History, Poetry + Music) Actively contribute to the

residential life

of the school through clubs, dorm interactions, and events

Qualifications & Experience:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, Literature, Education, or related field B.Ed. or teaching certification (preferred, but not mandatory for exceptional candidates) 2+ years of teaching experience with middle or high school students (boarding school experience a bonus) Strong command over English language and an expressive, empathetic teaching style A

love for books

, theatre, debates, or storytelling is highly valued

Passionate about working with students from diverse socio-linguistic backgrounds Creative thinking, lesson planning, and performance facilitation skills Empathetic communication and deep patience Ability to create a safe space for students to make mistakes and grow Experience or interest in building literary societies, reading clubs, or public speaking forums
