Job Description

We are looking for a

highly skilled and hands-on Team Lead - MERN Stack

to lead a team of developers in building scalable, high-performance web applications. The ideal candidate is a strong technical expert in the MERN ecosystem and microservices architecture, with the ability to mentor engineers, own technical decisions, and drive projects from concept to production.

You will be responsible for both

technical leadership and delivery ownership

, ensuring high code quality, scalable architecture, and timely execution while working closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership

Architect, design, and develop scalable web applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Express.js, React.js, Node.js, Next.js, Nest.js). Define technical standards, best practices, and coding guidelines for the team. Lead architectural discussions and make decisions around scalability, performance, and security. Design and implement microservice-based architectures where required. Review code and ensure high-quality, maintainable, and secure implementations.

Delivery & Team Management

Lead and mentor a team of developers through regular code reviews, technical sessions, and feedback. Plan sprint activities, allocate tasks, and track delivery milestones. Ensure timely delivery of features with high quality and minimal technical debt. Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and DevOps teams. Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues.

Development & Implementation

Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js, Express.js, and Nest.js. Build responsive, high-performance frontends using React.js and Next.js. Design schemas and optimize queries for MongoDB and PostgreSQL. Integrate third-party APIs and external services. Debug, profile, and optimize system performance and reliability.

Process & Quality

Enforce CI/CD practices and deployment standards. Ensure compliance with security and data protection best practices. Promote Agile development practices and continuous improvement. Stay updated with new technologies, tools, and trends in the JavaScript ecosystem.

Requirements

6+ years of experience in full-stack development with strong focus on MERN stack. Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams. Strong expertise in: JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript (preferred) React.js (hooks, performance optimization, state management) Node.js, Express.js, Nest.js MongoDB (schema design, aggregation pipelines) PostgreSQL (database design, stored procedures, functions) Experience with RESTful and GraphQL APIs. Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems. Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Working knowledge of Docker and containerization is a plus. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills. Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities. Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Redux or other state management tools. Hands-on experience developing betting or gaming applications. Knowledge of Webpack, Babel, and modern frontend build tools. Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodologies. Strong background in DSA and system-level problem solving. Active GitHub or portfolio showcasing previous work.
