As an Engineering Team Lead, you will guide a talented team of engineers in designing and delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable systems. Your work will focus on building advanced infrastructure to prevent fraud, ensuring the security and integrity of financial transactions at scale. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, product owners, and analysts, translating business goals into technical roadmaps and actionable deliverables. This role combines hands-on engineering, strategic planning, and people leadership in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will mentor and develop engineers, promote best practices, and drive innovation in system architecture and operational excellence. Your efforts will directly impact the reliability, performance, and security of critical financial systems.
Accountabilities:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of fraud prevention platforms, including rule-based engines, anomaly detection systems, and real-time alerting pipelines.
• Oversee backend development using Java, Spring Boot, and SQL-based databases, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Translate strategic goals into technical roadmaps, sprint plans, and measurable outcomes (OKRs).
• Mentor, coach, and manage a team of 5-10 engineers, fostering technical growth, accountability, and collaboration.
• Collaborate with product owners, fraud analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to align technical priorities with business objectives.
• Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, including testing, code reviews, monitoring, and incident management.
• Optimize systems for high availability, performance, and security, using techniques such as caching, partitioning, and horizontal scaling.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a team lead or management role.
• Strong proficiency in Java and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, system design, and microservices architecture.
• Exposure to fraud detection, financial transaction monitoring, or risk systems is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with load balancing, rate limiting, caching, and scaling strategies.
• Experience leading remote or distributed teams effectively.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and attention to detail.
• BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
