The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering and maintenance department, ensuring that all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems are functioning efficiently and safely. This role involves supervising maintenance staff, managing preventive maintenance schedules, responding to guest room and public area issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and energy standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and guide engineering and maintenance staff in daily operations and tasks.
Ensure all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety systems are in working order.
Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and equipment.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest complaints; ensure issues are resolved with minimal disruption.
Maintain documentation for all maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs.
Conduct routine inspections of hotel premises and facilities to identify and address issues.
Monitor energy usage and implement energy-saving initiatives in collaboration with the Chief Engineer.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repair and maintenance work.
Ensure the department complies with safety regulations and hotel SOPs.
Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of engineering team members.
Participate in budgeting, cost control, and inventory management of tools and materials.
Ensure proper handovers and shift reports are maintained.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in hotel engineering, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety.
Working knowledge of hotel management systems and BMS (Building Management System) preferred.
Good leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to handle emergency situations and work under pressure.
Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand or walk for long periods.
May require lifting, pushing, or pulling heavy objects.
Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights when necessary.
