Position: Manager, Software Development (C#, Dot Net, Azure, MS Tech Stack)

Location: Bangalore

Description:

The Manager of Software Development will plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of assigned products, systems, and projects.

This role demands both deep technical leadership and people management. Candidates must act as technical coaches who can earn the respect of the development team, and also demonstrate strategic communication with US-based executives. Must frequently dive deep into design and architectural decisions, challenge the development team thoughtfully, and understand the 'why' behind tech choices.

This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide the development team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.

Must articulate and defend technical decisions with clarity and depth--sharing context, trade-offs, and reasoning. Candidates should be comfortable with structured, peer-review style conversations and explain their decisions using technical and business context.

This position provides input on overall technical strategy, process improvement, and fostering a culture of innovation & excellence.

Responsible for not just input, but for raising internal technical standards and establishing processes that make the team a model for organizational excellence. Expected to proactively build scalable team structures and champion best practices (SDLC, Agile), while lifting both performance and culture.

Responsibilities:

Manage and provide direction to the application development team in support of business operations. Ability to mentor and coach team members at all levels, actively engaging in code reviews and architecture/technical discussions.*
Expected to build high-performing teams from the ground up, not just manage existing operations.*
Ensure the team follows engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes to deliver robust and scalable software solutions.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX/UI design, and quality assurance, to align software development activities with project goals, timelines, and requirements.

Expected to facilitate alignment by translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans for both technical teams and executive stakeholders.*
Demonstrates strong executive presence and the ability to present business-technical tradeoff discussions.*

Direct the development of robust, scalable, and efficient web applications ensuring high performance and optimal user experience.

Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications. Participate in Agile development methodologies, including sprint planning, task estimation, and progress tracking. Must be well-versed in multiple methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.), with the ability to articulate their relative merits, trade-offs, and contextual application. Comfortable adapting methodologies to what best fits business needs and team maturity.*
Ensure team is maintaining detailed documentation for new features and changes to existing systems.

Knowledge & Experience:

5 or more years' experience in growing andleading technical teams of engineers Technical familiarity with GitHub, Azure DevOps, code reviews (PRs), and Git branching Experience with managing software development projects, including resource allocation, project planning and risk management.

Qualifications & Characteristics:

Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language Excel at communicating complex technical ideas to executive audiences, and translating business needs into technical strategies for engineers. Communication should be supported by examples, frameworks, or metrics. Excellent listening and interpersonal skills. Ability to conduct research into application development issues and products. Highly self-motivated and directed. Keen attention to detail. Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Proven collaboration skills, with a track record of fostering positive teamwork and strong working relationships.

Serve as an ambassador of engineering culture, leading by example and driving adoption of best practices across teams, contributing to a strong, innovative, and accountable culture.
