We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and scale a core backend engineering team. This role combines strong technical leadership with people management, owning both backend architecture and team growth for high-performance, scalable platforms.

Key Responsibilities
People & Team Leadership

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing backend engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Own the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
• Conduct regular one-on-one discussions to provide feedback, coaching, and support, helping engineers grow into senior technical leaders.

Delivery & Execution

• Own and drive the delivery roadmap for core backend services and APIs, ensuring timely delivery with high quality and SLA adherence.
• Partner closely with Product Managers to plan sprints, estimate efforts, and manage priorities in an Agile environment.
• Identify delivery and process bottlenecks and implement improvements to engineering velocity, including build times, deployment pipelines, and code review cycles.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Act as a key interface between engineering and cross-functional teams such as Product, Customer Success, Sales, and Leadership.
• Translate complex backend architectures and technical trade-offs into clear, business-oriented insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide transparent progress updates, manage expectations, and align delivery timelines with business goals.

Technical Strategy & Architecture

• Provide hands-on technical oversight of backend architecture, with a strong focus on Java, Spring frameworks, and event-driven systems.
• Champion best practices in backend development, including API design standards, microservices architecture, and workflow orchestration.
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and security by proactively managing technical debt and driving infrastructure improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager leading backend or platform teams
• Strong background in the Java ecosystem and Spring Framework
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Experience building and scaling microservices-based platforms
• Strong people leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
