- Engineering Manager

Do you want to work with high-scale, multi-tenant systems that provide real value to customers? Want to build real web applications that work across multiple channels and devices?
In this critical role, the right candidate should have an entrepreneurial mindset, experience working across an application stack, and a strong background in developing complex web experiences that are rich, responsive, and interactive. We work at a humongous scale and touch ~650M end consumers globally, handling over 500M API calls, and 100M outbound communication messages at peak. The candidate should be comfortable and excited to work with systems of this scale. The individual should have exhibited good technical and team leadership skills and be a highly motivated problem solver.

Role & Responsibility

Exhibit strong technical knowledge, leadership, and team management skills. Lead a team of 8-10 engineers across different engineering groups. Create clear career paths for team members and help them grow with regular & deep mentoring. Be hands-on and participate in design, architecture, and code reviews within the team. Maintaining a good command of development principles like Unit Testing, Load Testing, and thorough detailing throughout the development lifecycle. Introduce new practices to increase developer productivity. Own product stability and uptime of a multi-tenant SaaS platform that is used by multiple conglomerates. Work in collaboration with Business and Product stakeholders to shape team OKRs, sprint, and quarter plans, and oversee any stakeholder communications related to deliverables and risks within the group. Research and identify emerging technologies to define long-term engineering initiatives.

Skills Needed

B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science or similar engineering disciplines. 7+ years of experience with technical depth as well as good people skills. Prior experience in people management is required. Great project management skills to manage multi-engineer projects and experience in delivering fast-paced projects on time. Good knowledge of object-oriented principles, design patterns, and either React, Java, C++, or Python. Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, etc. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure is desired. Experience in designing scalable solutions in a large-scale distributed environment. Well-versed in software engineering principles, frameworks, and technologies, with strong debugging/troubleshooting skills. Ability to work closely with product management, customer success, and other engineering teams to continuously evolve and innovate enterprise-class Products. A problem-solving and analytical mindset with a proven track record of responding effectively to customer situations Ability to make decisions and navigate the team through ambiguous situations. High adaptability and quick thinking. Candidates with prior experience in startups will be preferred.
