Roles & responsibilities:
As an Engineering Manager you will:
Build, lead and inspire an engaged team of Engineers.
Empower team to manage their work appropriately, respond to queries, address impediments and problem solve technical issues.
Provide effective coaching to Engineers and establish mechanisms for peer-to-peer learning and mentoring.
Understand how to foster and lead diverse teams and demonstrate commitment to doing so.
Role model a culture of engineering empowerment, autonomy, psychological safety and constructive challenge.
Understand unique skill sets of team members, providing personalized feedback and guidance.
Communicate to senior management and key stakeholders to ensure clear path to execution.
Communicate Engineering Practice standards and consistent ways of working across the domain and CBA that align to industry standards.
Allocate time for code review, refactoring and tech debt elimination over feature delivery.
Work with the scrum team to define, prioritize and manage the product backlog to deliver on the product vision, goals and roadmap.
Consult with business customers, stakeholders and cross-functional teams to build a shared understanding of the problem and solution and ensure there is support for scope and delivery decisions.
Publish and communicate the product strategy and roadmap to stakeholder and teams.
Assess and prioritize work based on outcomes to deliver maximum value.
Continuously order and refine product backlog to deliver maximum value in line with a clear product strategy and roadmap.
Take accountability for the prioritization of the backlog.
Manage conflicts, issues and risks to optimize solution and ensure alignment to scope.
Promote continuous improvement of the Product Owner practice within the organization.
Manage the plan or product roadmap including any risk, security or financial assets within accountabilities
AWS (Amazon Web Services) Cloud (working experience with some of the core services EMR, EC2, S3, Auto-scaling, etc.) desirable.
Experience with large migration programs and automating things to scale up migrations from on-prem to cloud. Hands on, Design and develop exceptionally reliable and scalable data pipelines and data platforms with comprehensive test coverage.
Deliver data engineering solutions aligned to core concepts of data design, preparation, transformation, and load.
Build and implement data pipelines in distributed data platforms including warehouses, databases, data lakes and cloud Lake houses to enable data predictions and models and reporting and visualization analysis via data integration tools and frameworks.
Required skills:
Minimum 12+ years of experience with expert level knowledge, working with the following toolsets:
ETL processes and practices
Data structures and dimensional modelling
SAS DI studio, Hadoop, Snowflake experience
Unix and batch scheduling tools
SQL - preferable Oracle Experience working with the
following Tools:
Confluence and Jira Awareness of the following
Software Development Concepts:
Product management
Secure Coding Practices
Strong experience in SAS / R / Python
Monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics
AWS Data Engineer certification is must
Experience working with the following Tools:
Source Control systems such as Git /Endevor
Build & Deployment tools such as Jenkins,
TeamCity, Octopus Deploy
Confluence and Jira
Unit Testing
Awareness of the following Software Development Concepts:
Agile methodology
Education Qualification:
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
