Engineering Manager - EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) - 4+ Years
Role Summary
The Engineering Manager in an EMS organization leads product industrialization, NPI, process engineering, and cross-functional coordination to ensure high-quality, cost-efficient, and scalable electronics manufacturing. This role acts as the technical backbone between design teams, suppliers, manufacturing lines, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Product Introduction (NPI)
Lead NPI from design handoff to mass production.
Review Gerber files, BOM, schematics, and manufacturing drawings.
Define and validate DFM/DFT guidelines with design teams.
Plan pilot builds, run build readiness reviews, and conduct PFMEA.
2. Process Engineering & Optimization
Own SMT, Through-Hole, Assembly, ICT, FCT, and Final QA process setup.
Develop and optimize process parameters (solder paste, reflow, pick-and-place, AOI).
Establish SOPs, control plans, and work instructions.
Drive Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, OEE improvements.
3. Engineering Team Leadership
Manage Process Engineers, NPI Engineers, Test Engineers, and Industrial Engineers.
Assign responsibilities, monitor KPIs, and conduct skill development.
Ensure strong technical collaboration across production, quality, SCM, and suppliers.
4. Test Engineering
Ensure availability and maintenance of ICT, AOI, SPI, FCT, JTAG tools.
Develop test strategies and test coverage plans.
Reduce test cycle time and improve first-pass yield.
5. Vendor & Customer Interaction
Act as the technical interface for customer engineering teams.
Work with component suppliers for AVL, sourcing decisions, and cost reduction.
Review ECNs, implement ECOs, and ensure seamless change management.
6. Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949 (if applicable).
Drive RCA using 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why.
Monitor FPY, DPPM, scrap, rework, and corrective actions.
7. Manufacturing Scalability
Plan capacity, takt time, equipment selection, and line balancing.
Introduce automation, robotics, and poka-yoke systems to reduce human error.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or related engineering field.
5-10+ years of EMS experience with 2-3+ years in leadership roles.
Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing, SMT, wave soldering, and box build.
Experience in DFM, DFA, DFT, NPI, and reliability testing.
Expertise with tools: Altium, Mentor, SAP/ERP, MES, SPC, PFMEA, Minitab.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹750,000.00 per year
