Summary

The engineering manager role would lead Advanced Design Tools (ADT) team in Gas Turbine Engineering & Sciences (GTES) organization at Bangalore. The role involves developing & managing engineering design tools for Gas Power business. In this role, engineering manager will drive his or her team members to achieve annual ADT priorities through high level of operational rigor and technical excellence. He or She will engage with team on routine basis to solve complex or critical issues which needs broader discussions and support from adjacent organizations. In this role, the engineering manager needs to have excellent people leadership skills to develop, coach every individual in his/her team to have successful career in GE.

Essential Responsibilities The engineering manager demonstrates leadership in communicating ADT team needs to his/her team and in driving culture of continuous improvement and collaboration to deliver better value for product and customer. In this role, He or She will utilize his/her experience or expertise to lead and solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals of ADT organization.
  • Responsible for managing, designing (software) tools for use by engineering teams to design, analyze, and validate systems & sub-system components.
  • Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals as well as others. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve tools, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Enables his/her team to execute and evaluate design using excellent engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, technology, or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations.
  • Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others\' options on specific topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
  • Provide hands-on support to team based on critical stage of the tool\xe2\x80\x99s development/implementation phase.
  • Handle critical customer meetings with excellent technical preparation and with good insight on physics and through past best practices.
  • Provide strong coordination between the design, systems, research & testing organizations during the tools execution phase to meet every CTQ\xe2\x80\x99s.
  • Keep strong connections within every design team in other global sites to leverage best practices and to review key decisions as one engineering community.
  • Available to take customer concerns & queries for key tools which is critical to business.
  • Drive documentation of technical data generated by the team for given tools program in consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Develop continuous improvement road map towards prediction process capability to deliver best design at faster pace.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments to broader ATD engineers across the global sites.
  • Develop and coach every team member to achieve their career interest in short and long term.
  • Participate along with team to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
Required Qualifications
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s or bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s in engineering with specialization in Mechanical, Design and Applied mechanics.
  • 10+ years of experience in design tools usage, development and testing various engineering purpose codes.
  • Hands on experience with turbomachinery design and familiar with gas power tools or design development & review process.
