Position Summary:
Process Engineer with Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and 18+ years of experience on basic and detailed design and with extensive experience in refining, LNG, petrochemicals, or energy transition technologies. Should have executed medium to large size EPC/FEED projects, as Lead / Engineering Group Supervisor in an engineering office or consultancy of repute. The engineer would be required to utilize their expansive knowledge in all areas of design from conceptual studies to detailed engineering. The engineer should have a confirmed track record and will be recognized for their understanding of the key process concepts. They have in-depth understanding of standard process deliverables such as design basis, H&MB, PFDs, process descriptions, P&IDs etc and would be comfortable both originating as well as approving these documents. Simulation experience is desirable and experience in multiple software (Hysys, Pro II, Unisim, Promax) will be an advantage. Candidate should have worked in project teams carrying out basic and detailed engineering for execution of projects on various modes of execution. Will utilize Bechtel procedures and work processes along with sound Process understanding of Process design principles to develop project deliverables. The engineer will drive for quality of deliverables and minimize rework through the application of quality absolutes while working independently and as part of a team. This position is based in Gurgaon/ Vadodara, India.
ROLE OVERVIEW/ RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, layout, reports or proposals, design criteria, budget and schedules for projects of varying complexity.
  • Assists and provides guidance to engineers to perform process design on Projects.
  • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work in a project or staff group. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex
features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, and/or difficult coordination requirements.
  • Reviews and checks work of subordinate engineers and provide input for their performance evaluation.
  • Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Executes process deliverables according to a set engineering design criterion utilizing approved engineering procedures, practices, and codes and standards.
  • Takes the initiative to coordinate the design development with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.
  • Knowledgeable of and performs standard discipline engineering activities on projects with minimal technical oversight.
  • Demonstrated experience in process simulation and automation preferred.
  • Uses expert engineering hydraulic programs such as Flarenet, Pipeflo, PIPENET, VMGSim, etc to interpret or complete calculations.
  • Uses 3D model software such as SmartPlant Review or PDSView in order to review the physical design of a plant.

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Apply basic chemical engineering principals of heat transfer, vapor-liquid equilibria, mass transfer and thermodynamics in process design.
  • Perform design calculations using standard simulation programs (Hysys, Pro II, Unisim, and/or Promax).
  • Conversant in relief calculation methodologies and industry codes and standards applicable to pressure relief design. Develop relief load narratives, relief load calculations and relief valve datasheets.
  • Develop flare system design.
  • Proficient in the process design of equipment, including vessels, columns, heat exchangers and package process specifications for equipment and control valves.
  • Develop process engineering deliverables such as BFDs, PFDs, H&MBs, Equipment Datasheets, Utility Summaries and other process deliverables required for the facility design.
  • Knowledgeable in alarm and trip setpoint rationale and process safety time calculations.
  • Develop and check Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), from preliminary drawings to issue for construction
  • Develop and check Line Designation Tables (line lists with process and mechanical design conditions captured)
  • Perform and check hydraulic calculations – for pumps, compressors, control valves, and line sizing
  • Develop and check Design Pressure and Temperature Diagrams (DPDTs) including studying and finding piping systems design conditions
  • Participate in Plot Plan, 3D Model and P&ID Reviews
  • Participate in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP/ SIL), as well as reviewing compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.

Substantial experience is required in at least one of the following industries/unit operations:
  • Refining
  • LNG
  • Gas Processing
  • Petrochemicals
  • Energy Transition (hydrogen production, CCS etc)
  • facility design.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 18+ years of experience in Process Design & Engineering for Refineries, LNG Plants, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Desalination, Oil & Gas.
  • Experience in Feasibility studies, FEED and EPC Phases of Project.
  • Minimum 18 years’ hands-on experience on Complex Hydraulics, P&ID development, LDT preparation, Simulation, equipment, and instrument datasheets, Process description, DPDT, Control

  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate work with other engineering disciplines and other stake holders
