BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems business unit is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven Engineering Group Manager for Application Software development - Project Execution as part of the software engineering competency at our Technical Centre India in Bengaluru.
The PowerDrive Systems business (PDS) unit of BorgWarner is responsible to deliver hybrid and full electric vehicle solutions to customers. Objective is to build strong application software teams for execution of global customer projects in EU & US.

Position Summary:
In this engineering leadership role, and under direct supervision of the Global Head Software Engineering-ASW, and reporting to the regional Software Head, the Engineering Group Manager will be responsible for establishing and managing the Application software development team in compliance with the required standard and processes for various power electronics products including high voltage inverters. Individual will develop the team\xe2\x80\x99s capability with focus on program execution, meeting internal and external customer deliverables, forecast and track teams engineering expenses and head count to meet customer, internal, and regulatory requirement in a fast-paced start-up like environment within a Fortune 500 Organization.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive competency and project management, domain knowledge in teams working on customer projects with close collaboration, both global and local cross-functional development teams. Lead teams developing Real-time Embedded Application algorithms & Controls software for Power-Electronics controllers using C, AUTOSAR and Model based development tools
  • Responsible for project deliverables and customer satisfaction \xe2\x80\x93 Schedule, Risks, Quality and Customer commitments.
  • Plan/staff hiring, and training needs of the team to meet global and domestic head count forecast. With key focus on team member retention and growth.
  • Streamline Common Architecture in compliance with standard Architecture (AUTOSAR) across programs, optimum usage of reusable building blocks to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Provide technical direction, conduct regular technical project reviews and take appropriate corrective actions. Mentors the less experienced and be a role model for BorgWarner Beliefs within the organization.
  • This team will own and deliver ASPICE processes for SWE1, SWE.2, SWE.3, SWE.5
  • Identify engineering quality and efficiency improvement opportunities, promote Continuous Improvement through problem solving techniques like Six Sigma/5Whys/Fishbone
  • Key roles within the team will include software development leads/engineers, change management , problem resolution and resident engineers ( embedded at OEM locations).
  • Willingness/ability to travel internationally.
Major Job Requirements / Skills * Bachelors\xe2\x80\x99/Masters\xe2\x80\x99 engineering degree in Electronics/Communication/Electrical/Instrumentation
  • 12-15 years of overall experience preferably in automotive embedded software development. Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience is preferred. Design and Development experience in hybrid or electric drive propulsion systems is a plus.
  • Proven Track record of design and development of Real-time Embedded Application Software development using C language, AutoSAR. Solid experience and knowledge of Model based Development and auto-code generation methodologies using Matlab tool-boxes (Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow/eCoder etc).
  • Excellent understanding of AUTOSAR architecture \xe2\x80\x93 MCAL, BSW, ASW, configuration tools from Vector/Mentor/EB Tresos etc. and methodologies
  • Good experience with SIL, MIL and HIL based software test and development methodologies.
  • Previous experience of Scrum and Agile development methodologies and associated management tools through leading multiple scrum teams.
  • Proven track record of leading or contributing to different stages of product development from concept to SOP.
  • Good knowledge of the SW development - Process, Methods & Tools in automotive domain with ASPICE standards. Expertise in Requirement management, Change management & Configuration management with good know-how of ALM tools such as Polarion/JIRA/Plastic etc.
  • Good experience in Functional Safety ISO 26262.
