Role Profile
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Production SRE Support Team within the Markets and Risk Intelligence division. This role focuses on supporting Snowflake environments and ensuring reliability and operational excellence across production and selected non-production environments.
The role involves managing testing, build, and implementation of releases, as well as independent infrastructure and environment support. Working within the wider SRE Support Team, the focus will be on delivering the change programme across all lifecycles--from development, test, UAT, Member Test, to Production environments. A production-focused approach is essential, with resilience, operational readiness, performance, and production support at the forefront of delivery.
Flexibility to work across different shifts aligned to UK time is expected, with occasional out-of-hours support including nights, weekends, and holidays. The role involves collaborating with business teams for investigations and providing technical guidance when needed. A good understanding of underlying technologies and the ability to assist developers with fixes or enhancements is important. The ideal candidate should be dedicated and able to manage priorities effectively without rigid oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Operational SupportMonitor and maintain Snowflake databases and related infrastructure for performance, availability, and reliability.
Participate in incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Maintain and improve documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
Participate in shift rotations and occasional out-of-hours support.
Deployment & AutomationImplement releases and changes across development, test, and production environments.
Apply standard processes for database administration, including backups, recovery, and security.
Automate deployment and maintenance tasks using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Develop scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency.
Monitoring & PerformanceConfigure and maintain monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Datadog) to ensure system health.
Analyze system performance and implement improvements for cost efficiency and resilience.
CollaborationWork closely with developers and product teams to embed reliability into the software lifecycle.
Contribute to knowledge sharing and team documentation.
Support global SRE initiatives and cross-regional collaboration.
Person SpecificationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
Required Skills and Experience3-6 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or related roles.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake or other database technologies.
Proficiency in SQL and basic query optimization.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog or similar) and
ITSM platforms (ServiceNow preferred).
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
