. The role involves developing and managing vendors, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery requirements. The candidate will be responsible for vendor audits, sample approvals, process improvements, and supporting cross-functional teams in sourcing and supplier finalisation.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, evaluate, and develop vendors for casting and machining components.
Review drawings for casting feasibility, moulding, and machining requirements.
Support vendors in pattern development, gating/riser design, and machining process improvements.
Conduct vendor audits, trials, and sample approvals.
Ensure compliance with metallurgical standards, MTC verification, and quality requirements.
Work with vendors to reduce defects and improve process capability.
Monitor vendor performance on quality, cost, and delivery parameters.
Negotiate with vendors on cost optimization without compromising quality.
Collaborate with sourcing, quality, and design teams for supplier finalization.
Support sourcing team in developing alternate sources to ensure supply continuity
Provide technical feedback to R&D and design teams for manufacturability improvements
Ensure suppliers meet ISO, class society approvals (BV, DNV, etc.), and Masson-Marine's internal quality standards.
Support localization and indigenization projects.
Required Qualifications
Education: B.E. / B.Tech - Mechanical / Metallurgy / Production (or equivalent).
Experience: 3-5 years in foundry casting, moulding, pattern development, and machining.
Technical Knowledge:
o Ferrous and non-ferrous castings
o Sand casting, shell moulding, pattern process.
o CNC / VMC machining processes.
o Metallurgy, inspection methods, and quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA).
Skills:
o Vendor development & supplier management.
o Problem solving & root cause analysis.
o Strong communication and negotiation skills.
