Your Job

As an Engineer - Product Design, you will be responsible for driving new product introduction in PSBU Cable Harness. You will lead the product development cycle for specific accounts by collaborating with cross-functional teams to transform customer needs into innovative, validated mechanical designs. You will also serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, ensuring that concepts and specifications meet feasibility, quality, and manufacturability standards from concept through product launch.

Our Team

You will be part of the Power & Signal Business Unit (PSBU) at Molex, focused on cable harness design and new product development. Our team works closely with internal stakeholders such as Product Marketing, Sample Room, Program Management, and Operations to deliver high-quality products that satisfy global customer requirements

What You Will Do

Lead new product development projects for assigned accounts, driving cross-functional collaboration throughout the product lifecycle Act as the first point of contact for customer technical queries, participating in calls across time zones Translate Voice of Customer (VOC) insights into feasible concepts and detailed technical specifications Utilize CAD software (UG NX) to plan, execute, and refine mechanical designs Perform computer simulations and conduct physical validations, including 3D printed samples and physical testing Lead design reviews, including DFMEA and Design for Manufacturability assessments, ensuring robust and production-ready designs Prepare technical documentation for costing, drawings, and specifications; release and update these in PLM systems such as Work Manager / ECTR Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Requests (ECRs) to maintain product integrity throughout development Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish product qualification plans and reliability test sequences Disposition First Article Inspection (FAI) reports and coordinate sample preparation and evaluation with the Sample Room Ensure compliance with Molex policies and quality standards in all project activities

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Graduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in product development, preferably in cable harness or related fields Proficient with CAD software (UG NX) and product development tools Strong understanding of change management, DFMEA, GD&T, and product development lifecycle processes (PPAP, APQP) Effective communication and leadership skills to collaborate with diverse teams and customers

What Will Put You Ahead

Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies Familiarity with quality standards such as IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 Experience using PLM/ECTR systems for documentation and change control Hands-on experience in physical testing and validation of mechanical designs Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives
