The PPC Engineer is responsible for end-to-end production planning and control--from sales order scrutiny to job card creation and scheduling--ensuring on-time delivery, optimal capacity utilization, material readiness, and accurate MIS reporting. This role acts as a strong bridge between Sales, Production, and Purchase.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Order Scrutiny & Scheduling
Review and scrutinize Sales Orders (SO) for feasibility: scope, specifications, BOM, routing, lead time, and special instructions.
Convert approved SOs into production schedules, aligning with capacity, material availability, machine loading, and shift plans.
Prioritize orders based on delivery commitments, customer priority, and production constraints.
Job Card / HOB Card Management
Create and scrutinize
Job Cards / HOB Cards
with complete details: item codes, BOM, routing, WIP stages, QC checkpoints, cycle time, and batch size.
Issue Job Cards / HOB Cards to Production with clear instructions; manage revisions and re-issues when required.
Raise
rejection/hold/NC
notes to Production with root-cause tagging and rework plan coordination.
Daily & Weekly Coordination
Share
daily and weekly production updates
with the Sales team (progress vs plan, delivery commits, risks, expedites).
Coordinate with
Production
for plan adherence and with
Purchase
for material follow-ups and shortages.
Conduct daily production huddles; maintain WIP visibility and aging.
MIS & Reporting
Prepare and publish
weekly and monthly MIS
: plan vs actual, OTIF, capacity utilization, OEE (from production inputs), line loading, schedule adherence, WIP status, and rejection analysis.
Track bottlenecks and recommend de-bottlenecking actions (shift balancing, subcontracting, alternate routing).
Change Control & Continuous Improvement
Manage ECO/ECN impacts on ongoing schedules and job cards.
Drive improvements in planning accuracy, master data hygiene (BOM, routing), and lead time reduction.
Support audits and documentation (ISO/TS/IATF as applicable).
Shift Operations
Work in shifts as per plant schedule; ensure seamless handover with the next shift and maintain logbooks.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
2-5 years
of experience in PPC/Production Planning in a discrete manufacturing setup (fabrication/machining/assemblies).
Hands-on experience with
ERP/MRP
(SAP/Oracle/Microsoft Dynamics/Tally Prime or similar).
Strong understanding of BOM, routing, capacity planning, cycle time, WIP, and inventory control.
