Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Documentation & Process Development
Prepare and verify
Bill of Materials (BOM)
and ensure configuration accuracy.
Create and maintain
Process Documents
including PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow Chart, CC Matrix, Cable Cutting Chart, etc.
Conduct
feasibility studies
for new products, engineering changes, and customer RFQs.
Prepare
Process Control Records (PCRs)
and maintain process traceability per aerospace standards.
Develop detailed
work instructions, SOPs, visual alerts, and visual aids
for shopfloor operators.
Create
rework instructions
and troubleshoot process issues with corrective actions.
Lead identification of
new tools, crimp tools, fixtures, gauges, and mating parts
required for production.
Manage
ECN/ECR implementation
end-to-end, ensuring all documents and processes are updated.
Support
alternate parts approval
, deviation requests, and maintain compliance with customer specifications.
2. Product Release & Handover
Validate engineering drawings, customer specifications, and technical documents.
Conduct smooth
handover of drawings and documentation
to Production and Quality teams.
Ensure
BOM validation
through prototype builds and process capability checks.
Submit
First Article (FA)
documentation per AS9102 and follow up with customers for approvals.
3. Manufacturing & Shopfloor Support
Estimate
labour hours and workstation cycle times
for costing, planning, and capacity decisions.
Monitor shopfloor manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to work instructions, tool usage, and quality requirements.
Capture and maintain
photos/videos
of products at different manufacturing stages for traceability and training.
Support
process audits, tool calibration requirements, PFMEA reviews
, and internal compliance checks.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction principles.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with Production, Quality, Purchase, and Supply Chain to resolve build issues.
Coordinate with design teams for design-for-manufacturability (DFM) improvements.
Support suppliers for tooling, materials, and alternate component validation required for assembly.
Submit
weekly project progress reports
to management.
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
Knowledge of wiring harness standards:
IPC/WHMA-A-620
, MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-27500, AS9100.
Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace specifications.
Experience in PFMEA, Control Plan, APQP, RCA, and problem-solving techniques (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa).
Proficiency in MS Office, SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Catia (optional), and ERP systems.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and documentation skills.
Cross-functional communication and coordination.
Ability to work in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
Detail-oriented with strong process discipline.
Qualification
B.E / B.Tech
in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
Certifications in
AS9145 (APQP), IPC/WHMA-A-620, Lean/Green Belt
are added advantages.
Minimum 4 years of experience.
