About the Role



As an Engineer in Payments Technology NZ, you'll play a key role in helping to deliver diverse development initiatives, maintain and enhance ANZ's ability to execute card transactions reliably, safely and securely.



ANZ's card transaction and settlement platform is part of the ANZ Card Switch Solution and handles both real-time and batch transaction processing. This system is responsible for processing millions of credit and debit cards transactions per day from ATM, retail and internet channels. It is a high performance, latency critical and robust solution with 24/7/365 availability, and provides an essential service to New Zealand.

What will your day look like




The ongoing improvement of processes, tools, strategy & methodology that relate to infrastructure and system engineering.

Contribute to design and development of solutions for Card Switch NZ, providing technical expertise to make technical decisions

Respond to production incidents, analytical and diagnostics to assess impact, determine cause and restore service

Provide primary and secondary support afterhours for incidents as required

Proactively providing technical expertise, being hands-on and helping the team make technical decisions.

Contributing to the evolution of architecture and design of our technology stack.

Contributing to the ongoing improvement of processes, tools, strategy, and methodology as they relate to infrastructure and systems engineering.

Cultivating a culture of growth and continuous improvement of your craft, as well as sharing your knowledge with the team.

What will you bring




The 'must have' knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:



5 years' experience of systems engineering

Solid knowledge of DNS, Linux, virtualisation, clustering and infrastructure

Knowledge of monitoring solutions (e.g. Dynatrace, Splunk) and how to apply them effectively.

Comfortable with ambiguity and being able to adapt to a constantly evolving environment

Awareness of computer security, specific security technologies such as SSL



'Good to have' knowledge, skills and experiences



Payment's knowledge and a burning desire to learn how payments work

Knowledge of DNS, Linux, virtualisation, clustering and infrastructure

Experience in transaction processing systems.

Experience in front line production support of critical systems would be an advantage.
