Purpose of Role:
To support BU across the division in the areas of system design and engineering in mining/mineral processing domain
Key Responsibilities:Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to Weir's zero-harm behaviours in support of the drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
Design and develop equipment, sub system and solutions for the problem or customer requirements.
Understand mass balance data/technical specifications and transform to design component/equipment.
Perform engineering calculations demanded by the projects.
Create of manufacturing drawings, Assembly and General arrangement drawings, Engineering Bill of Materials(BOMs) of Process Equipment
Ensure that the deliverables align with relevant design requirements (specifications, standards, schedule, etc.), best industry practices/guidelines and to meet customer requirement.
Perform quality checks of technical drawings and documents of self and peers.
Adhere to workflows, SOPs, processes established to meet team and organizational KPIs.
Diagnosing issues in existing machinery or systems and finding innovative solutions.
Identifying deficiencies and optimization opportunities in designs and processes and developing improvements.
Interact with sales, application engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and other cross functions in the BU.
Support technical leads and managers in achieving standardization and engineering efficiency projects.
Identify and report when there are problems with systems or processes so that action can be taken.
Receives and responds to everyday enquiries from customers, escalating requests outside own knowledge to the appropriate person/area.
Finds, checks and passes on information as required.
Takes independent decisions or minimal guidance from tech leads while proposing solutions to various green field and brown field scenarios.
Estimate the effort and level of detail needed against a job based on the stage of the project.
Guide designers to develop required designs and drawings required.
Support in finding solutions to field issues and customer escalations with in short time.
Read and interpret the FEA results for the equipment and systems and incorporate necessary design changes with guidance of Lead engineer.
Required Education and Qualifications:Diploma or Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 5 years of experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience:Requires a good working knowledge of CAD preferably UGNX and PLM systems preferably Teamcenter
Familiar with the design of Bins, Chutes, hoppers and tanks.
Proficient in Fabrication, Sheet metal, Welding design and Symbols.
Familiar with design of support structures and Walkways and Ladders/Stairs for the equipment and products.
Product knowledge of mineral processing equipment.
Design in accordance with regional codes & standards
Good understanding of Enterprise systems like SAP, Sales force and project / Program management systems.
Good knowledge on recent trends and advanced manufacturing methods and technologies.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Participate in technical discussions with Customers & other stakeholders
Prepare Work breakdown structure (WBS) & estimate for the project effort
Proficiency with various MS office tools.
