Job Overview: The
Jar Test & Application Executive
is responsible for conducting laboratory and field-level jar test analyses for evaluating the performance of speciality chemicals such as coagulants, flocculants, decolorants, antiscalants, and biocides. The role involves working closely with the sales and operations teams to identify optimum dosages, improve treatment efficiency, and support client-side trials for STP/ETP/WTP plants.
Key Responsibilities
1. Jar Test Analysis & Product Evaluation
Conduct
jar tests
to determine the optimum type and dosage of coagulants, flocculants, and polymers for wastewater treatment.
Prepare and standardize chemical solutions for test analysis.
Record observations related to floc formation, settling time, turbidity reduction, and clarity.
Analyze pre- and post-treatment water samples for
pH, TDS, TSS, COD, and BOD
(if applicable).
Document results with photographs, graphs, and clear comparison tables.
2. Field Testing & Client Support
Visit client sites (STP, ETP, WTP, process industries) to conduct
on-site trials
and optimize dosing points.
Support the sales team in product demonstrations and technical validation.
Identify root causes for poor chemical performance and recommend corrective measures.
Provide feedback to R&D and management for product improvement or development of new formulations.
3. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare detailed
Jar Test Reports
with sample data, recommended dosages, and observations.
Maintain a database of test results and performance trends for different industries.
Submit visit reports and test findings to the Technical Head and Sales team.
4. Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with the chemical dosing team to implement optimized doses at site.
Communicate effectively with customers and explain test results in simple terms.
Ensure timely sample collection, labeling, and safe handling of chemicals.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment chemistry.
Hands-on experience with jar testing apparatus and basic lab instruments (pH meter, TDS meter, turbidity meter, COD digester).
Knowledge of treatment processes - Coagulation, Flocculation, Sedimentation, Biological treatment, and Filtration.
Good observation, analytical, and documentation skills.
Field visit capability and willingness to travel.
Basic computer knowledge (Excel, Word, Report preparation).
Educational Qualification
B.Sc / M.Sc in Chemistry / Environmental Science
or
Diploma / B.E. in Chemical / Environmental Engineering
Experience
0-3 years of experience in water & wastewater treatment, speciality chemicals, or lab testing environment.
Fresh graduates with good technical aptitude and communication skills can also apply.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Number of jar tests and reports completed monthly.
Accuracy and repeatability of test results.
Successful chemical trial conversions into customer orders.
Feedback from sales and clients on technical support quality.
Language: English & Kannada Required
