Design Engineer: Engineer - I

What you will do

Independently work on mechanical system design for HVAC product development and Sustaining projects for JCI. Must understand the mechanical and structural design requirement for HVAC equipment like Terminal units, Fan coil units, blower coil unit, AHU, VAV, Diffusers, Grills, and Chilled Beams. Own end to end coil design development for various application and deliver project as per project scope.

Responsible for systems design and develop complete HVAC products based on design requirements and meeting standards, review, verification and validation.

This position requires the ability to work under minimal direction in collaboration with global teams to design and develop robust system solutions that meet defined system requirements.

How you will do it

Understand the mechanical design requirement for HVAC equipment AHU, Terminal Units, Fan coil units, terminal units and blower coil units. and overall project scope.

Provides work estimates; plans and controls design and delivery of the project to meet objectives for project/system standards, quality, reliability and performance.

Responsible for all aspects of mechanical design requirements of AHU, Terminal Units, Fan coil units, terminal units and blower coil units.

Analysis and evaluating engineering designs, review drawings, preparing Bill of material, verification and validation.

Actively participate in Global engineering meeting and Design review meeting and present design with rationale to get stakeholders buy in.

Work with value engineering and CAD design team for 3D Modelling.

Work with SAP or any ERP systems for BOM creation and engineering changes.

Understand and follow the product development process.

Work in coordination with project lead, product design team and overseas client.

Coordinate with overseas client to understand design requirement and guide the team for execution.

Ensuring quality and timely design release of the mechanical systems.

Coordinate with production team for necessary product changes and timely implementation.

Travelling onsite for prototype testing and coordination if required.

Training and technical mentoring of the team

What we look for

Required

• BE/B.Tech/M.Tech- Mechanical Engineering
• 7+ years of experience in Mechanical system design and development in HVAC products
• Knowledge and experience in designing of heat exchangers (water coils)
• Knowledge and expertise in design automation
• Exposure to project management techniques
• Knowledge of HVAC equipment\xe2\x80\x99s like FCU\xe2\x80\x99s, BCU\xe2\x80\x99s AHU\xe2\x80\x99s , Terminal Units, Fans, Dampers etc.
• HVAC&R Design - Knowledge of ASHRAE & AHRI standards, Psychometrics, Thermodynamics and Refrigeration Cycles, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Systems and Components (compressors, heat exchangers, fans and blowers, refrigerants, , construction materials, safety devices, etc.),
• Knowledge of DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
• Knowledge of sheet metal part and assembly modelling.
• Working proficiency in the CAD (2D & 3D) design tools \xe2\x80\x93 Solidworks and PLM
